It depends what level you are in the company - middle, manager, executive, etc. Most companies have defined limits on what they allow.
When I did my last move, they paid for
1. temporary residency for up to two months, all meals for up to one month.
2. two vehicle and one recreation vehicle move
3. professional movers, including packing
4. all costs associated with utility shut-off and set-ups.
5. Realitor expenses
6. If my house did not sell within 6 months, the company purchased it a fair market value and then had their realty company sell it.
7. Free high-speed internet with a connection to the company server for working at home
I know of one person who was a VP and the company paid for moving his mink farm across country at the cost of $300,000.

An old proverb suggests he/she who speaks last determines the decision.
a) Cost of living while searching for new home? How long?
b) Moving costs - what % of total/family?
c) Closing costs on old residence, if any?
d) Modification/correction on new residence.
The higher up the ladder, the more you can ask.
"What would you consider a fair relocation package?" They will go low. You need to know what you want and what you will settle for. If they are any good, they will try to get you to name an # first.
