It is not national but some of the bans are very local like "No hitchhiking on the Mass Turnpike."

YES! Hitch-hiking is against the law......The danger of it should turn someone against wanting to do it.

Local and on interstate highways and freeways. Some places just don't enforce their existing laws.

yes in all states.A close friend of mine got a ticket for it in ohio.100 dollar fine!
