I have a new stove and Maytag gave me a sample of Cerama Bryte to clean the glass top. Seems like I need a lot of elbow grease to get it shiny. Anyone with a better product which gave you an easier job?

No matter what you do ceramic solid surface range tops take a bit more effort to keep clean. I, too, have used the sample products that came with my oven and found that it took a lot to get it as shiny as I would want. So, I have used alot of products but finally found one that works for my stove. You see, my stove has a solid black surface top which makes it even harder to shine up. But I found a complete kit at Target called Range Kleen. It is located in the aisle with all of the kitchen gadgets (not the cleaning chemical aisle). You have two options when buying the product: buy the whole starter kit or buy the cleaner refill. Here is how it works: The kit comes with the cleaner, a plastic scraper, and a pink sponge with white scruby on top. Hint-throw out the pink sponge - it scratches the stove. You apply the cleaner liberally (I spread it around with a papertowel) and then you used the scraper edge to pull up and baked on food. Then you wipe off the excess with another clean paper towel. That's where the instructions stop. But I have found that once you wipe it up there is still a little residue - that's where I have taken a soft cloth like baby diaper and buffed the surface like I buff wax on a car. It does take some work but it does shine.

I don't have the UPC code for the Kit but here is the code for the Cleaner Refill:

Target
Range Kleen
UPC# 7077570681

If you go to Target.Com and type in the UPC code it should show you the product and allow you to buy it online if you choose (I think).

Hope this Helps!

If it's scratches that go down into the glass top there's probably nothing you can do, although it really shouldn't hurt the operation of the burners. If it's on top of the surface, use a razor blade scraper and hold it with the razor blade at about a 45 degree angle and scrape over any place that does not feel smooth. Once you've scraped it try a cleaner again and see if it's helped. I would only replace the top if it actually breaks somewhere.

You won't believe it, but SOS pads do a GREAT job. I thought taking steel wool to my brand new ceramic stove top was insane, but my cousin's wife has the exact same stove and showed me that she uses it all the time and it actually doesn't scratch. It is the best thing ever to clean off anything that gets spilled and then burnt on to one of the rounds. I know it sounds crazy, but it works wonders and is SO easy.

I got cerama brite with mine too. i have found that if you don't let it dry before you buff it off it is easier. i just use whatever brand they have on sale at the supermarket. do use some sort of polish tho. or you will ruin the surface and it will look ugly.

after you wipe it with the cerama bryte, spray it with windex and wipe, you'll get a beautiful shine.

Green scrubby pads or Soft Scrub. Or both!
