Are you replacing the clutch assembly? If so, there is supposed to be an element of play in the flywheel. The ca ris fitted with a 2 piece flywheel as are most of todays modern cars. Its nearly always a case of when you are fitting a new clutch in this type of vehicle, you should also replace the flywheel. When you have it out, take a close look at the flywheel facing(where the plate meets) and check it for micro cracking. This will be there in 99 cars out of 100. When you budget the price of having to remove the gearbox again a couple of thousands of miles later, its false economy. Good luck.

Hi >
No need to delve into the internals, and do gap measurements.
Give the thing plenty of revs, and slip the clutch in harshly.
Does it slip ? Does the whole show vibrate and jigger around ?
Sounds a bit harsh, but -
Those simple tests should give you a clue as to any problems
All the best with the item,
Bob.
