RAM is just an acronym for Random Access Memory. GB represents the amount of RAM your computer has. Most modern computers come with 1GB of RAM.

You can check the amount of RAM your computer has by right-clicking on the "My Computer" icon and selecting "Properties." At the bottom on this window you'll see something like 1.00 GB of RAM.

Generally, the more RAM your computer has the faster it will be. Keep in mind that your computer will have a limit to the amount of RAM it will support. Check with the owners manual or manufacturer to confirm this before purchasing more.
