My uncle gave me a laptop like two months ago, he bought it in Walmart [layaway] and today a police from my campus came to look for me in the middle of one of my classes and told me that there was a laptop, that was stolen, being used [for internet] under my name. He had a report with my laptop's serial number on it and had to take it away because Walmart was looking for it. My uncle is looking for the receipt. How come that can happen? Like, he bought it from there, why are they saying it was stolen??!!

F. Walmart! It was their error! They didn't remove the laptop from their inventory. Because of all this mess my uncle lost half a day of work, I lost half of a class, a lot of gas going here and there and minutes from my cell. I so hate walmart.

Wal Mart does indeed have a Lay Away. But something is odd. I would not make any rash judgments yet, see what develops. Stay calm. :)

are you sure your uncle paid for the laptop? i work at walmart and in all computer sales, the serial number is recorded at the point of sale. any theft numbers are recorded, too.....get your receipt or ask your uncle what is going on.

something is wrong.

IF IT SMELLS LIKE CHICKEN THEN IT MUST BE CHICKEN. IF YOUR UNCLE PAID FOR IT THEN HE WOULD HAVE KEPT THE RECEIPT. THE STORE ALSO KEEPS RECORDS OF THE UNITS THEY SELL. I WAS UNAWARE THAT WALMART DID LAYAWAY. SOUNDS LIKE A FISHY STORY.
