i think blacks should be given cash, or something like that. white people always say it was so long ago and none of us owned slaves.
but the effects of slavery still hurts black people today. many of us dont even know our whole family tree due to slavery. we are labled as wortless this country and are still not treated fairly. our youth wont preform well in school because they are afraid of being acussed of acting white and most of the black on white crime in america is based off racist blacks WHY? SLAVERY. so yes whites of today should give something back to blacks so that we will have a chance to be truly equal $-wise so we can leave the gettos or rebuild them in to places people want to live in. if you treated with some respect mabey we wouldnt hate you so much ( i dont hate white people just blacks a a majority)

The United State should not compensate The African - American communities...
First of all, slavery has been with the human race since the start of time...
Remember the Jews and the Egyptians...
History does not tell you that before the Europeans visited the land of Africa that the African tribes had their owns slaves. yes, they in slave each other, the stronger tribes would have slaves from the weaker tribe...
one point that always bothers me is that it should not be Afro- Americans but Americans first...when 911 happen, it was a sad day because of what happen but out of all this chaos i saw something that i wish would have continue, for the first time in a long time we were all were AMERICANS...the other times that i have seen this was in 1964 JFK, 1980 HOCKEY TEAM, 1941 pearl harbor, 1945 end of WWII...
I guest what I am trying to say is lets move forward and work together as one nation and take care of ourselves and all who have suffered in the past would not say it was for nothing....

Since blacks in America have it better than they do in Africa blacks should be glad they are here and shut the hell up about reparations. If you want something, maybe we can buy you a one way ticket to Africa, maybe Sudan where arab muslims have black slaves today.
No living American ever owned slaves and no living American was ever a slave here, so cut the crap out and be glad you are in the country that has helped more blacks have a better life than any other country ever on this planet, including the hell hole countries in Africa that we support with aid now because they can't seem to get their own act together without the white man's money.

that makes no experience. reason it change into white that delivered them right here and saved them as slaves. also there have been some whites that idea it wasn't top too. so no human being has a top to hate anybody because in any ethnic team u will discover sturdy and undesirable human beings. to inform u the actuality black have a sturdy reason to be mad yet no human being has the right to take an emotion into action only for quickly gratification. reason if a black human being hates and is racists as whites i imagine they're only as undesirable or worse than the slave vendors that held their ancestors. 2 wrongs do no longer make a top. if u recognize the way it feels to be dealt with badly for ur good factors why in the hell might want to u concern others to an same remedy? thats dumb. certain slavery existed and it sucks yet u recognize what each and every ethnic team has an same unhappy tale too. inspect community individuals ninety% of them were killed off, inspect Africa now, inspect Iraq, inspect south united statesa. and what the spaniards did... all of us have a tragic thoughts to inform... so we would want to allow it bypass and make issues better ideal. yet what truly receives me mad at cases is that black human beings parade like they're the in straight forward words victims yet yet do they help different ethnic communities that are deal with badly NO a large style of the time they connect the bashing.... everyones were given a tragic tale to inform so get over it and make issues better ideal, teach others the actuality with the help of kindness and tactifullness no longer guilt and hatred...

My next door neighbour was born in Somalia, does he get money to? He's African American. How about the millions of white people who don't have any ancestors who had anything to do with slavery? My Great-Grand parents came from Ireland in 1904 and slavery was never practiced in Ireland. Do I have to pay? If someone is half white and half black do they pay themselves? There were white slaves to, maybe we should pay all the white people in this country some "compensation" to. Reparations are a ridiculous idea and they become more ridiculous every year.

No compensation is needed. As for the list...
1. Repeating an atrocity does nothing for the soul
2. Cashing out does not undo historical exclusion or it's subsequent repercussions
3. A 'black' president doesn't mean a "better" president...
I would be happy to see a revised historical account of this country's history--I'm sure that this would be beneficial to all nationalities and ethnicities in this country when the goal is truth and not just pacification of racial egoism...

My ancestors (the Aztec Indians) were almost wiped out by Cortez and then made into forced (slave) labor (on my dad's side)and the Mc's (Irish) on my mom's side came to this country so they wouldn't starve. I, nor my ancestors owe anybody anything as their hopes and dreams were paid for in blood, sweat and tears. Also, 1.) Black slaves were not "ripped" from their home. They were sold into slavery by their own tribesmen. 2.) Reparations is a dead issue and the reality is it will never happen. 3.) All the power to a Black, Mexican, Asian, Female, etc. President. If the individual has the qualifications and the Country chooses them, god bless. Unfortunately, your question either is intended to create controversy or shows your lack of insight. Either way, hopefully you will get the answer you are looking for.

Since neither myself or my European ancestors owned slaves why should I be required to make compensation? What about compensation to all the Native Americans whose land we stole? Compensate the Irish for discrimination back in the 1800's? Where does it end? BTW, for educational purposes, most African slaves were sold to whites by blacks. So, do they African nations owe compensation, too? I would vote for a black for president if I thought they were worthy, not because they are black.

None of the above. I don't own slaves, my father didn't own slaves, his father didn't own slaves, HIS father didn't own slaves...get the picture? Don't you realize that it is the very attitude you project here that is one of the main contributors to racial division in this country? Slavery is long gone, as is segregation; racial discrimination has been outlawed; there is no such thing as Jim Crow anymore -- how long are African-Americans going to continue to throw the past up in the face of white America? As long as people like you insist on doing this, there will be no racial equality in this country. Get over it!

No white person alive in America today has ever owned any slaves.
No black person alive in America today has ever been a slave.
We are not responsible for the sins of our fathers or grandfathers etc.
You could ask the same question about you paying for your own fathers or grandfathers mistakes whatever they were and the answer would be a huge no. If your grandfather had robbed a bank should you pay back the money?

I think we should dig up all the bodies of all the nation's founders, clone them, and enslave them. That would would be fair compensation. The people alive now had nothing to do with slavery.
It might also be funny to enslave klan members and charleton heston... would that help?
