I agree it's both. Seeing the future is a blessing if used in a good way like to make better choices and make the future of yourself and others better. But it's a curse at the same time because you will know of any painful events like deaths etc before they happen!

If a person were able to see the future then that would change the future because of the butterfly effect, which is "a phrase that encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in the chaos theory": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect
In other words, the mere fact that a person saw the future would cause said person to interact differently with everything and everyone around her/him and therefore change the future to be completely different than what it initially would have been in the "vision of the future". This means that it is impossible to see the future, even if there were some sort of supernatural force that could be harnessed to allow a person to see what was going to happen in the future then the person's vision would simply be a single possible among infinite possible futures which would 'taint' the continuum by the simple fact that said person knew what was going to happen next where in the initial undisturbed timeframe said person wouldn't know.

Might get boring if you know what's going to happen. Would be good if you could see the mistakes you will make in the future, learn from them, and prevent them. Like if you saw yourself kill someone in a drinking and driving accident, you would know to never drink and drive.
