Here are the ways I use it. There's so much more to it, but here are the basics:
1) I use it to be certain of my eternal destiny. The Bible tells us that being a Christian is not about being "good" because we can never be good enough to measure up to God's standard of perfection, but rather it's about believing that Jesus walked this earth and was sinless while he did it, and that he chose to die as a sacrifice for us. Before Jesus died, people had to sacrifice perfect (without blemish) animals on an altar before a priest to be forgiven for their sins. Christ was part God and part man because he was concieved by a virgin (Mary) through God's supernatural intervention. Since he was part God, he was perfect, too. When he died on the cross, he willingly chose to become a sacrifice for us, so that when we choose to trust in him, we have all of our sins forgiven by God (no matter how big or how small) and we know after we die we will go to heaven to be with him. Most of this can be found in the book of Romans in the New Testament. This is what fills the God-shaped hole that's in everyone's heart. We are all searching for something - most just don't know what it is.
2) I use it for guidance. There's a lot of wisdom in those words especially in the book of Proverbs. It tells us alot about how to get along with other people and how to live smart.
3) I use it to understand today's current events. Much of the old, old prophecy that is in the Bible has now become history. The book of Daniel predicted, with pinpoint accuracy, the various forms of the Roman empire, how each would be overthrown, and in what order, and the book was written long before the events took place. Daniel did this while he was divinely led to interpret the dream of Nebuchadnezzar (the ruler at the time), when Neb couldn't even remember the dream! Since the Bible has a track record of being accurate, I believe that the prophecy that has not yet been fulfilled is on its way as our future and our current events are lining up just as predicted!
4) It gives me hope. God makes a lot of promises in the book and I rely on every one of them.
I hope this helps you! The Bible is still the most widely purchased book ever printed - there's a reason for that!
God Bless You and your family! I'll say a prayer for you and your project - hope you get an A+!

I am an agnostic/atheist.
I use the bible to check the things that are stated as *facts* by christians.
I have read the bible (and many other relligious works) all the way through several times.
I do NOT trust what christians say is in the bible, because - often - they are just going by what people (preachers) have told them and they dont know what is actually *written* there.
ie, if someone were to say, for example "The book of Daniel predicted, with pinpoint accuracy, the various forms of the Roman empire, how each would be overthrown, and in what order", I go and look at the second chapter of Daniel and read fromthere onwards, until I can say with quiet confidence 'this person is either a misguided fool, or deliberately trying to mislead people'
Often so-called christians do not bother to read the bible for themselves.
It is often useful to look at context. It is useful to compare different
verses....there are many conradictions, especially in the OT.
So the bible is useful to me because it is a case of 'know thine adversary'

I have a family Bible. I rarely read it but I enjoy the notations that family members have been adding for over a hundred years. Occasionally when I do "open" the Book, I have a hard time understanding it and can't understand why there are such contradictions in it. I actually bought my daughter "The Idiot's Guide to the Bible" when she turned Catholic. It helped her a lot. Guess my answer is more suitable than your first three, eh?

I actually inherited my family Bible. I'm the third generation to have it. My Bible contains all of my family information (all births, deaths, marriages, including dates and newspaper articles). Since I have no children, I will have to pass it on to a niece or nephew who deems themself responsible enough to carry on the tradition. I already know who I'm going to give it to, but shes only 15 right now. We've also placed certain school pictures that different kids within the family did in like kindergarten, so the Bible itself is pretty stuffed. But our Bible is used as a Tell-All of my family for as far back as the late 1800s. Need more info you can e-mail me.

I'm not christian but i am studying the Bible in RE for GCSE and a few things Christians may use it for are:
1) read it each day as a part of there Christian devotion to God.
2) read a relevant passage to help when they are mourning the loss of aloved one
3) read it to back up there opinions on abortion or euthanasia, capital punishment ect.,e.g. do not kill
4) or to simply learn more about the religion.
Hope this helps as it's what is written in my RE book!

I usually find that on my days of clarity when all seems well with the world I can always turn to the bible to pour water all over it and confuse me totally with fire, brimstone and contradiction.

i read my Bible every morning to guide me through the day, i also read it at night before i go to bed. to use the Bible, you have to meditate on it and try to understand what it is saying. a good christian should try to live a life that measures up to the standards of the Bible. without the reading and meditating on the Bible, your spirit would be lukewarm and there would be no spiritual connection between you and God who is our creator
the Bible helps you understand things and it teaches you what to do and how to deal with specific situations in life. eg it teaches you to love unconditionally, it teaches you to forgive and forget etc
hope i helped
=)
