I'm currently in college and now I don't have to worry about my mother and her not wanting me to wear makeup. I know how to do my eyes but I don't know if I should use foundation. I would like to even out my skin so it all looks nice and natural but I'm kinda scared. I heard that it can mess up your face. Help.

If you only need it to even out your complexion I would recommend a tinted moisturiser, these are lightweight and quite sheer which makes it easier to blend. Tinted moisturisers are a great way to get used to having a layer of base on your skin.

If ever you feel that you want to step up to foundation remember to buy one that is oil-free, non comodogenic and non acnedogenic (this will make you less likely to breakout). When choosing your colour apply a small amount with your fingers (after warming it a little by rubbing it slightly) to either your jawbone or your chest. Step outside into natural light and pull out your compact. The 'invisble' sample is the one for you.

For a more natural finish, apply your foundation with clean fingers, you can put a *small amount *(Very important = you can add but you can't subtract makeup) onto the flesh between your index finger and thumb and warm it by rubbing it slightly, this will allow it to 'melt' into your skin, giving you a much more natural finish. The way you blend can also make a difference.
Start from the nose and work your outward to the cheeks, this prevents the 'mask' finish, apply a little to the centre of your forehead and chin and blend outwards. Always apply foundation in the direction of hair growth (by hair growth I mean peach fuzz and the like) never apply it upwards or the make up will settle under the small hairs on your face giving you a 'caked' look.

And I'm sure you already do, but cleanse morning and night, and make sure you've removed all traces of foundation and other make up, this will help keep your skin clear.

Hope this helps.
:)

Is your skin flawless? If so than you just need a little foundation or maybe a tinted moisturizer. There's nothing to be scared of just pat the foundation on your skin and blend well. If you apply too much foundation you will look kind of scary. If you're going to buy foundation for the first time, then I would suggest that you go to a department store like macy's or sephora and have a beauty consultent help you find the right shade and show you how to put it on. Mac has a really good foundations and they're reasonable priced. Good luck!

How does foundation mess up your face!!???
Seriously, though, go to a makeup counter at the Bon or MAC or something, and have them show you what they've got and how to apply it. Don't let them pressure you into buying something you don't want, though.
I recommend using foundation for special occasions - your skin DOES need to breathe. A lot of girls and women use foundation to cover zits, etc, but THEY ARE EXACERBATING THE PROBLEM by not letting their skin breathe. Also, you need to used a foundation THAT BEST SUITS YOUR SKIN TYPE.
If you like the way you look not wearing foundation, then DON'T waste your money!!!
An alternative is using tinted moisturizer. It's color is very, very light.

If you can get away without it, I wouldn't bother with it. If you have nice skin, I think it'll look better with a little moisturizer and no foundation. If you just want to even it out a little and you feel you need something, try a tinted moisturizer. If that doesn't give you the results you want, then try a light coverage foundation or a light bronzer.

I have used cover girl foundation now for 5 years. The only way it can mess up your face is if you dont get it even and if you have a bright light in the mirror you use to put it on with youll be fine and able to tell what it looks like. Ask a friend/roomie to help you the first few times of applying it.

yes it can mess up your face. Use this it is not a foundation. Go to Sephora and buy this called Mineral Veil $19
Complexion Perfection
It's like having your very own photo retoucher; Mineral Veil melts into your skin, infusing it with softness and light for an airbrushed complexion. It also absorbs oil, minimizes the appearance of fine lines, and wears well on all skin tones.
This would be perfect for you. trust me because I'm using this product. (Bare Escentual)

No. Many formulas are designed for various skin types, so you would want to look for one that suits your skin. Many of them offer an SPF, which is an added protection from aging. I have a friend who uses Tinted Moisturizer, and it makes her skin look awesome, but naturally so. Sometimes she will mix reg. foundation w/a moisturizer, it very natural looking and give her skin that added protection. Just cleanse skin at night.

Go light, girl! Just a little goes along way. Make sure you match your skin tone as closely as possible so you don't get those ugly lines of demarcation!! If at all possible, please go to a Mary Kay rep or someone who does make-up professionally to get the best for your skin. Make-up properly applied WILL NOT mess up your skin. Always use a make-up sponge-never your fingers. fingers spread oils and can cause breakouts! ICK

1. it gives a tinted glowy look . so natural no one knows you have anything on

2.it moisturizes

3.it does not clogs up paws

4.its cheap as it does not have a lot of chemicals in it

5. covers redness and blemishes even though some large spots may show

6.it causes no harm to the face

7.it does not look fake

i used to use foundation ( really expensive one ) and followed all the wash of BASICs to it also . i could see the change in my face and grew to comfortable with it . then a make up artist in Spain showed me tinted moisturizer and gave me its wonders ... when i returned to London I've used it since and people Ive shown it to are very pleased with it
