No -- you don't need an associate's degree. It is an irrelevent degree. It merely means that you completed two years at a school that doesn't grant four year degrees. If you spend two years at the worst community college in the country, you can get an AA. If you spend two years at Harvard getting a 4.0 then leave -- you don't get a degree -- you are called a college dropout.

Most students who get a BA or BS do not get an associate's degree first.

Transfer as soon as possible. Good luck.

In fact, there are some classes that you would take to get an associates degree that you wouldn't need for a bachelors degree. You should talk to someone in Admissions at the college(s) that you want to go to now. That way you can make sure that you take the courses that will help you be admitted to their school but don't take classes that won't transfer or count toward your bachelor's degree.

No, you don't need an associates degree to get a bachelor's degree, you need to go to a school that gives bachelor's degrees. Usually a community colleges have 2 year programs with less requirements and award associates degrees, and there are four year universities which award bachelor's degrees. You may be able to earn a bachelor's degree by transferring your applicable credits to the university's program, if they are accepted. Credits are accepted at the university if the college curriculum level is acceptable to the university, and viewed as similar or the same as the same classes at the university.

No you don't need an associates to get a bachelors. I have a bachelors but no associates. A community college offers associates degrees because that is all the further some people want to go and the associates degree shows they have attained an education in their field. However you can transfer to a 4 year college without getting an associates degree but sometimes in admissions it looks better to have recieved it.

Good luck furthering your education!

No, you don't have to have an Associates to get a Bachelor's Degree.

Contact the school you wish to go to. They can tell you what credits transfer and what classes you need to take to complete a degree.
