Without looking it up OR having heard it before, I would say that because "poly" means many and "amor" means love, polyamory is when a person loves more than one man/woman. ? Am I right? :o)

well poly means multiple, and I believe amory derives from "amore" which is italian for love, so I would guess "multiple lovers" (which is not polygamy - multiple wives). This would also not mean just sleeping with more than one person, but actually being IN LOVE with all of them at the same time

But I could be wrong...

Well, knowing that Poly=many or more than 1 and Amore=love and affection....I'm gonna say that it's loving more than 1 person at a time?

Poly, meaning many. Amory, which I assume derives from the Latin root for love. So, I imagine it means love of many, but the word is not in my daily vocabulary.

Well, poly is the greek word for many, and amory is the word for love. It is having more than one love, but not necessarily sexual partners.

Since we have s/g in greek "poly" (much) or first synthetic of the
word Polis=city and word Amoros=with fronteers, the meaning could've been like a city with many fronteers or many sides, or many walls etc.
On the other hand, could it be "poly"=much, or many and amoros
=wall, protective surroundings.=Much protected.
Could also mean someone very wise.Moros-moron and the a that
gets off moronness and poly=much. =Much wise.-
Suit yourself!!!
