LOL until the world realizes that Germany has better and untapped resources than America, Then America will continue to Police the world. We have the best technology and resources. When our resources begin to deplete we will either take Germany's or die trying. Until then, we rule the world cause everyone expects us to. They want us to fix it's problems and want us to take blame for all that's wrong. That's the cost of being rich and powerful.

They think that they own the world 'cos it's just a few people in Washington DC that stick their noses in to anything that they disagree with. I think that the current figures of US citizens owning a passport is 3%! So the vast majority of them don't know or care what is happening outside their borders.
As to the Brits being a bunch of suck ups to the US of A, I agree with you on that! America started out as a British colony, is it now the other way about?

It is only the american govt that thinks it owns the world and only the british govt that kisses up becasue basically EVERYONE owes america money, including the british. We p*ss them off they call in their loans.

PLEASE though don't be racist towards the american or british people, beleive it or not the govts are not representative of everyone's thoughts and sooo often the representative parties are elected on the basis of something which they never deliver, preying on the little mans hopes and systematically destroying them... democracy my backside! It won't be long until the US and UK are both complete Nanny states all under the guise of "we know what's best"

Its the other way round, think about it!!! How many English speaking people are there across the globe and how many british overseas territories are there and the land mass they cover(BRITISH COMMONWEALTH) what has the Americans got apart from a few very small islands in the pacific, hardly Austrailia. I do partly agree on the question Americans THINK they own the world.I would say yes they do, i mean come on they have a WORLD series baseball tournament thats only played in America and then they invent American/English i ask you if they don't think they own the world they certainly got the biggest Ego's...

that is called coercing by making use of boycott and banning. that is what the international used to "end apartheid" -- which replaced into rather basically tearing down the wall the whites used to maintain themselves risk-free from the violent blacks. there is now a genocide on white human beings, hundreds of thousands of tortured white ineffective human beings. Does that propose Bob Geldof and Bono own the international? @Hater Police: you're an entire uninformed moron. Why do you carry close out in a politics communicate board once you do not even save up with political activities?

Because they are an ignorant bunch of morons who think that the world owes everything to them when in fact nothing of any use has ever come out of America, they are racist, right wing lunatics and the best thing that could happen to the world is for America to cease to exist. As for Britain now that the arsehole Blair is in charge we are just another state of America following in the rabid footsteps of those racist and genocidal maniacs.

Americans are subjected to a mild form of brain washing from a very early age, leading them to believe that they are the best. (pledging allegiance to the flag, bad guys are never american in films, re-writing history so that America always saves the day need I mention WW2?) It is to ensure their economy continues to thrive as Americans will always buy American (food, cars, clothes etc) that's why they hate anything made by anyone else!
I was told this by AN AMERICAN so don't be cross with me!
P.S. I don't know a single person who sucks up to Americans.

Why are you posting this question on Yahoo! Answers, a division of Yahoo!, a corporation invented and headquartered in the USA? Why are you using the internet, a technology developed by the USA government and commercialized in the USA? Why do you use a PC, another American invention? The whole thing runs over fiber optics backbones (developed in the USA, Britian, and other locations) and copper telephone wires (invented in the USA).

When you answer these questions honestly, you may have some glimmering of insight into the beginning of the reasons Americans have high national self-esteem.

That isn't the same as thinking one "owns the world", remember, the USA has a very different set of cultural values that other people may simply not understand. There's been a lot of value placed on understanding other people's cultures in recent years. It may surprise some people, but other countries actions often appear to us as rude or vulgar or grasping in the same way ours do to them. Its valid to judge actions, but intent is a much trickier subject if one tries to make judgement on one's own cultural mores instead of those of the acting body. The question is too vague to be particularly answerable unless one person happens to be thinking in which way Americans are perceived as believing they "own the world."
