I know I am a guy and you will probably discount what I say. However my wife and I have had 4 children so I think I have an idea of how to self-induce labor.

Aside from the obvious choices given here ie sex, nipple stimulation, etc . Labor will only start if your body is producing an enzeme called pitocin. Yes Pitocin is used to induce labor in the hospital but it is naturally occuring in the human body.

Some women just do not possess enough of the enzeme and others posses to much. This will account for the fact that some women are early and others are late. So no matter what you do in order to go into labor you must be producing the enzeme.

There is no way to tell if you are producing that enzeme or not. However, if your sister has lost the mucus plug that is generally the first sign that pitocin is building in the body.

If that has happened, tell her to walk and lots of it. Half a mile or more. 3 times a day. That will help promote labor to start.

Having said all this please remember every women and every pregnancy is different. What worked for one women may not work for all women. What worked for one pregnancy may not work for the next.

let it happen naturally or else there can be complications!! however sex has been known to start early labor, but i dont recommend it, its almost over for her anyway tell her to not be selfish and let this baby make the move if not the baby then definitely a dr. if she goes early she can have a tiny baby, which its very crucial u wait because some things may not be mature enough to work on their own...every day matters and 37 weeks is safe but not every baby is ready at that time.. be careful!

Midwives have been recommending nipple stimulation for centuries, and it really works! The best part about it is that it will only work if the baby is really ready to come out. You can use a breast pump, or your hands (or your partner's hands). Good luck to your sister!

i wouldn't. what if her due date is wrong and the baby isn't as old as she thinks it is. wait on mother nature. plus there really is no way to do it.

spicy food, walking, all old wive's tales

castor oil is dangerous cuz it can cause the baby to pass stools while in uetero...not good and very dangerous to baby

sex helps prepare vagina, but may or may not cause labor to start

She is only 37 weeks. Patience is what she needs.

Be patient! Think of the baby. It will come when it is ready. It could be too early and the baby could be sick....you don't want that. Mother hood is going to last for the rest of her life and she doesn't need to rush it. I know it's exciting, but just be patient.

This may be an old wives tale, but my mom said it worked for her. Her due date with me was friday the thirteenth, and she was superstitious, so she drank castor oil and organge juice. She said she went into labor and well, that was 22 years ago. Good Luck! lol...
