don't know, but I agree. I think they went in the wrong direction. At the end of the first movie, Neo tells the machine world he is going to open the eyes of the people in the matrix, and show them the truth. But all his interaction in the sequels are with people who already know the truth. I was hoping for a storyline where Neo began showing more "prisoners" of the Matrix the truth, much as Morpheus did to him in the first. Instead, it turned into an underground starwars.

The same reason that most sequels suck. The very act of making a sequel is usually evidence that those involved don't have much in the way of original ideas. If they did, they'd make original movies. Instead, more and more of what Hollywood produces is "same-old," you know, sequels, remakes, movies made out of comic books, video games, old TV shows, etc.
I guess you can tell that I'm getting a little bored with Hollywood.

well, i think Reloaded and Revolutions arent that disappointing. i loved it. maybe becoz im into that sort of thing ...
but since you're asking, let me tell you how i think people were disappointed. the movie itself isnt disappointing. the studios raised and intensified the hype that the movie itself wasnt able to catch up.
but the totality of the Matrix Trilogy has depth, philosophy and meaning for an action/sci-fi which makes it really interesting.

Sequels (and re-makes, for that matter) often are. That's just the way the universe wants it. There shouldn't have been sequels to the Clause movies with Tim Allen or any of the Freddy and Jason films either, but bad ideas happen.

After the first film became so popular, movie studios rushed the release of the last 2, which resulted in a horrible storyline. No one likes a rushed film production; at least I don't.

So many reasons
Matrix was new - there was no hype
It was totally unexpected
They just dragged out the whole zion / love thing and took away from what made the movie really interesting, which were the scenes in the matrix.

I think its because they didnt really have a follow up story to the original film but they signed a contract with the studio to do a triology so they just made it all up and as a result was a bit poor.

because the original one was a huge success and the makers got greedy and didn't know when to leave a good thing alone. it's a shame, but that's the case for many, many movies old and new.

Actually i dont agree with that. I think the best was 'Matrix Reloaded'. The sequels are good too but you just don't see it.
