You can't see the effect of the choices you make ahead of time because you can only control your own actions and not the rest of the world. Other people, things and events are unpredictable. We can make the best decisions we can at the time given the facts we know, but things can always change and people can react in ways we did not predict.
Even if everything we do is fated, we are still fated to act and move and do things based on our own judgment, and perhaps all of these struggles and their results are fated in advance, but I doubt it.

Well, I have to disagree with the most of you. So many (out of my control) forces have taken me to where I am now, such as physically moving, ending relationships, keeping certain ones, etc. I didn't have a choice, it all just had to happen no matter what decision I chose. I believe we have a destiny, and no matter what we'll end up there, and hopefully we make the right choices to make that journey full of joy and happiness. It's sort of hard for me to explain, but I believe we do have a lot of power with the choices we make. Say, if you want to be successul in something, you cant just go "ok fate, happen." You make you're own choices in your best interest hoping to get there, but things will happen that will guide you to where you will end up to be. But if you just make a bunch of unethical, lazy, or bad choices in life, you will obviously suffer the consequences. We're all meant to be happy, so I strongly believe all of our fates are the same--to enjoy happiness some time in our lives and to be able to appreciate that time.

I feel that if we were always shone the affect of a decision ahead of time we would never progress as individuals in many ways of life. For example If we saw the results of a test we never took or even had the choice to take, we made a poor grade that would be more devastating than stepping out on faith and believing in ourselves to move forward and put our best efforts ahead. Seeing the affect of a choice ahead of time would keep us from moving forward and to me that is a cowardly way out.

Well your fate and choices are a two way road. In some instances your fate leads you to your choices then your choices lead you to your fate. Those two aspects of life are linked together.

I would say it is all "fate," but not in the magical sense, like how many think about it. There are so many things that influence the choices people make, they are often unaware of them, and tend to think they made the choices on their own. Our environment molds us into who we are. All of these variables act upon us simultaneously, giving us the illusion of free will.

I would say BOTH. The choices I made created my fate. :o) I was lead to my fate by the choices I made. They go hand in hand.

It is called life's journey. There all always opposites, always some things happen by chance, always choices - every day.....some things you control, some things are beyond your control. Some individuals seem to have a steak of luck thrown in the mix. It is the way it is and obviously the way it is suppose to be.

i dont believe in fate. i believe in karma, and actions creating other actiong thus creating out fate.. fate to me is not predestined. It is determined by what we do not, and hhow we use our choices doing them.
