People like Al Sharpton gain their powerbase and fame from crying racism every chance they can. It's a power trip. It doesn't make the problems less real, just more difficult to judge if they are truly promoting racial harmony or their own agenda.

"Black People Like Al Sharpton" still think there is a need for the civil rights movement because there is still a high degree of racism in the USA. The reason I believe that there is a high degree of racism in the USA is because "People Like You" have the AUDACITY to doubt its existence. Even our president has acknowledged the existence of racism. This being a direct quote from Mr. Bush..."I understand that racism still lingers in America. It's a lot easier to change a law than to change a human heart. And I understand that many African-Americans distrust my political party."
I'm not going to say that I support Al Sharpton championing every black cause but he feels that there is a need for his media presence. Being a servant of God makes Al feel it is his calling to do that. I can't question that mans heart but I can say that I feel he does get involved in too many cases. I can't say that man can't serve his God as he sees. Do you hear him pray? Do you hear God's answers? Can you say he isn't playing his part in the world?
I'm not understanding what you mean that they don't talk "respectfully" to white people? I have never seen Al Sharpton disrespect anyone in any of the interviews that I have seen him in. Are you saying that someone needs to feel inferior to someone else because they are black? I have a newsflash for you, no race is inferior. Just because Rev. Sharpton speaks his mind does not make him disrespectful. You see in Al Sharpton's heart he feels he is needed.
Now lets address the poverty issue. If there are a higher percentage of blacks and it is a known fact that racism still lingers in people's hearts...is it possible for blacks to experience racism that will hinder their economic developement? I believe the answer is yes. Life isn't fair but racial discrimination is very unfair.
On the idea of "supposed police hate crime shootings"? Ok, if we rule out the shootings, would broomstick rapes fall under the auspices of hate crimes? How about beatings of ederly men for not moving fast enough or for no reason? How about shootings in which over 20 rounds are fired and none are fired back? A racist would believe that the majority of black women have more than 5 kids out of wed lock and collect welfare. A racist would believe that a black man acts in suspicion to attract police interaction when it is a known fact that police officers have a thing called racial profiling. Regardless of what you see on MTv not all black men want to be a drug dealer or a pimp. Alas, I have another newsflash for you...Blacks don't expect hand outs. They just expect an oppurtunity to be treated fairly with dignity. So before you show your ignorance and type another derrogatory question or answer another question with obviously racist sentiment just remember that you can't even type or spell effectively but you might even get the job over a well spoken highly effective black male because you are white.

Honestly all black people are not followers of all black movements or ideas. What makes black people upset about allot of things in today's society is because there are still people out there who believe we are not equal, so yes we need people like Al Sharpton to speak his word but it doesn't mean we all step to the beat of his drum. I for instance believe in equality but I also believe nothing in life for all races is fair, that's just life. So when you ask these kind of questions in the manner in which you have asked, you will make some black people upset but there are some who know why you ask and why you wonder because we wonder at times as a black race, why do WHITE people think we are so inferior, is it because were the only race that speaks out because there are many races who are taunted against by white society but the white people always want to finger point the black race. We have just overcome the days of sitting back and being quiet but some of us choose to do it in a more discreet manor and others like Al prefer to do it in the public eye. Also on your statistics, there are just as many whites in poverty as blacks but like I said before, some white people on that aspect choose to be more discreet and black people tend to circle that question of race on that AFDC request for assistance application, that is why America statistics seem more favorable to the black population.

Al Sharpton is a good example of Black preachers who were nobodies until they got caught up in accusing white police officers of raping and scarring a 17-year-old black girl from the projects who made up the story because she was pregnant and didn't want to have to tell her family. The two cops they accused weren't even in the country when this thing happened! Al Sharpton should be in jail for that NOT running for President or having a radio show. He made a name for himself by perpetuating the myth the "Whitey is still keeping the black man down." If he admitted the scam, he'd go back to being just another Harlem preacher.

Because it is easier to be a victim of circumstances rather than be responsible for your circumstances.
You are correct your race has noting to do with your income anymore. As human beings we are responsible for the decisions we make with our mind not with the color of our skin.
If you are poor, with a job paying minimum wage it is because you have no marketable skills- not because of your skin color.
If you are on welfare with 7 kids by different daddies, it is not because of you skin color- it is because you refuse to use birth control.
If you live in a ghetto-it is because you can't afford better-not because of your skin color.
If you are chased by the cops chances are more than likely it is because you have done something suspicious- not because of your skin color.
I get very tired of the " I am suppressed by racism" argument.
I am white- I have been poor
I have lived in what was called a slum
I had a job paying minimum wage
I changed all that by decisions I made and you know what the color of my skin didn't mean a thing.

you could call them. Then they are going to probable march on your position and phone you a racist. they are purely as racist as any member of the KKK (except they hate white human beings), so i wager they might comprehend a racist even as they talked about one. besides, if Al Sharpton did no longer have something to rave about, he will be out of a job. that's what he does for a residing.

As A White Guy , I'll Answer That . Al Sharpton is right in his beliefs , because without OUTCRY , this country tends to run in favor of those conservative republicans who do nothing for the poor, or middle class, who, by the way , pay their high salaries . Likewise , the blacks have to piss and gripe if they are to improve their life style in this country .....nothing was ever handed to them without a fight ..
