Yes, like you I am sick of labels. It is not important to know whether a person is gay or straight. People are too anxious to wag their little tongues if they think they know something another does not.

I just watched the movie Poster Boy and this topic is brought up. It is all about labels... and issues. It is not like any of it helps anyone. It just pits people against each other and tears everyone else apart. The movie may not have been great but that insight sure was. It made me realise that maybe it is the labels that cause all the pain and social upheaval... not so much the act.
I too am sick of labels.

Ummm...some labels are necessary. GAY and STRAIGHT are 100% necessary. If no one in the world knew what anyone was, that would be way too confusing & awkward. Now i do agree that myabe the individual labels WITHIN homosexuality may be a bit much (femme, stud, butch, soft stud, stem, lipstick les, etc) But I think the world needs the straight, Gay & Bi basic categories.

I would say that if you are gay, figuring someones orientation out would be of tantamount importance in certain situations. For example, what if you wanted to ask that person out?
As feel-good and Utopian as the whole "no labels" thing is, not all labels are harmful.

I dont think it really is important for people to know. Unless you want specific people in your life to be close friends. You cant have a true/close friendship without telling. You can have a superficial friend, but not close friendship without telling.
Labels are bad when misused or mean. To tell me a man is gay is to tell me to approach him only for friendship.

its to identify who to hate and who not too. I don't mind labels, they are necessary. Like I'm a woman seeking a st8 man. See, now I can start to get what I want because of the label.
There is nothing wrong with acknowledging differences...I love differences. The hate that comes after is whats wrong.

its not important unless you're looking for a sexual relationship with that person (like you want to go out with the really REALLY hot guy, but he's gay, so he'll never date you) only then is it important, and then after its been established, if its not a sexual match, then its no longer important and you all just go about your lives as usual
and why is it that the REALLY REALLY hot guys are always gay. thats SOOO unfair.
