Yes.
Wow, i love this question man.
A sense of loyalty does prevent one from making a fresh start. It's sort of like you're so loyal to the past, the ideas that others have of you, the memories, the adventures, the experiences. You don't really want to move past them because then it will seem like you're really forgetting about them. But you're not. You can still remain loyal in your mind and heart. But a fresh start is required at some point in anybody's life. And just because you're moving on doesn't mean you can't hold on to the greater parts of the past... You're just making the choice to not be dictated by the past. And that's huge. But you have a stronger loyalty to be true to yourself.

Only misguided or misplaced loyalty prevents one from making a fresh start. If you love or respect someone that isn't worthy of it, you suffer for it.

definitely, i think that is what is holding many people in the relationships their in, in the job their in, at the church they stay at. but I think there is more to loyalty than just the things that the person feels tied to. I think along with loyalty is a fear of disappointment and hypocrisy.

quite possibly yes, if there had at one time been ill will.
but anything is possible, if it is meant to be.
anyways, a fresh start means wiping the slate clean, and that would entail wiping away any remnant of loyalty.

Yes... misplaced loyalty can delay or derail new beginnings. It's called co-dependence.

At times, yes. It all depends on where the loyalty lies, I suppose.....

Certainly it can. Dragon has experienced that. Fortunately, it is over now.
