in Internet Explorer:
Tools > Internet options > General Tab
There should be a field at the top where you put in what you want your home page to be. If you don't want it to go to any page at all when you first start up your browser type in about:blank
Firefox:
Tools > Options > Main
Same field

In your browser, go to Tools, then Internet Options. The first field is your homepage. Change it to whatever you would like it to be.
Then click apply or ok. Hit your Home Icon and it should work.

If you're on AT&T Yahoo!: Look at the top of the pg. on your home pg. There are selections for color and layout. Click which one you want to change. There are many selections in both.
