Hey there! First, CONGRATULATIONS! What a wonderful blessing; enjoy! At the first visit, the doctor will check your pee, weigh you, and take some blood. He also may do a minor internal exam. It is a little early to look for the heartbeat - if memory serves me correctly, I had to wait until the 4th month. To look forward to? EVERYTHING! Especially the baby you will have at the end of this journey. Enjoy! :o)

Congratulations!! If they use an instrument called "doppler" your doctor should be able to pick up your baby's heartbeat! It is very exciting!! Since this is your first visit, they will draw blood and you'll give a urine sample. If your pregnancy hasn't already been confirmed by someone in the medical field, then they will give you a test and give you an EDD (Estimated Due Date)..although by your precise dates, it seems like you're pretty on track. They wil of course take your weight and prescribe a prenatal vitamin. If you've been feeling nauseated and it's unbearable, you can ask your doc for a prescription for that. Most docs begin with Phenagran (not sure about the spelling). If you're not experiencing nausea, trust me, you will not miss it at all! They'll also test your urine for protein and sugar. Some doctors will perform a pap smear as well. If you are having any type of discharge, be sure to let your doctor know, so you can get it taken care of. That's pretty much all they do on the first visit. (Most of the time, this will be your longest visit!)
If you haven't already, then you should buy or borrow "What to Expect When You're Expecting." This book helps with that motherly paranoia that you may experience! It has a lot of information and is extremely helpful. Congratulations again and enjoy your pregnancy!
P.S. The ultrasound allows for measurements of your uterus and the gestational age of your baby (fetus just sounds so impersonal!) The heartbeat can be detected through ultrasound, but you'll only be able to measure the beats per minute (bpm)--it's not audible. If you want, visit www.webmd.com. There's loads of information there and it'll help with all the confusing & contradicting info you might get on here! Good Luck!

every dr is different BUT ill tell u what mine did (im on my 2nd at 19 weeks) the first visit u talk with ure dr he fills u in on what to do as far as diet, physical activity, u get an estimated due date and my dr does a simple internal ultrasound and you get to see ure little guy! (u cant realyl see much because hes still WAY underdeveloped, but they do this since its too early to hear the heartbeat (at ure next visit u will) and they can at least SEE the heartbeat by doing this. This makes sure hes alive and well! its usually 12 weeks is the earliest to hear the heartbeat!! but its GREAT and exciting! CONGRATS!! oh and they will give u blood work papers to go to a lab and get done!! welcome to motherhood, ull be doing lots of tests, by the time u have this baby u will have NO fear of needles!

They can hear the heartbeat through an ultrasound, but I don't think a doppler can pick it up until about 13 weeks.
Every doc's office is different on how they do things. Mine saw me like nearly right away for like an "intake" where they go over information with you, etc.
Regular OB appts generally just consist of a urine test for protein (don't pee before going to the doc!!! LOL!), basic question and answers, blood pressure, and you are on your way....at least in the early stages. When you get to be later, they will feel the height of your fundus (top of your uterus) and measure it, as well.
Pretty easy...pretty quick!

they will probably listen for the heartbeat which you should be able to hear. they may do an ultrasound just depends on the equipment your doctor has. since this is your first visit they will have you go to the lab and get some blood work done. and they will give you prenatal vitamins. nothing to worry about. all pretty normal stuff.

Yes, they can detect the heartbeat. And @ 10 weeks you'll be able to see the embryo and teeny tiny fetus. I've got my ultrasound pic from 9.5 weeks and you can see her big ole head and body and these little nubbs for arms and leggs. Its so cute. But they only did an ultrasound because I wasn't sure of my last period and w/ my infertility history they wanted to be sure that the embryo wasn't implanted in one of my tubes.
But they'll draw blood, ask questions, check urine, do the pelvic exam and a pap smear if you're due for one. Give you a butt load of information, which I suggest you read carefully and research all the tests they may want to do later on. Good luck.

During my first prenatal exam the doctor gave me a urine test just to confirm my pregnancy and then did some blood work. He also gave my my due date. I was only 5 weeks then, you are farther along that I was. I had my first ultra sound at 8 weeks so you may be able to have one at your appointment depending upon your doctor. Also it is still to early to be able tohear your baby's heart beat, probably not til around the 5th month. You should get a copy of the book what to expect while your expecting. It is wonderful. it lets you know what to expect at each of you doctor appointments and throughout your pregnancy. best of luck to you!

With an ultrasound they will be able to hear the heartbeat. Basically I just filled out lots of family history and got an ultrasound and got to ask any questions I had on my mind.

They'll do an internal exam, determine the age of the fetus, check your blood pressure, take a blood sample and urine sample.. nothing you haven't been thru before. They may schedule you for an ultrasound - you should be able to hear the baby's hearbeat at 10 weeks.
Good luck!
