My Dear, one gets what one pays for - if you buy a mock-Tudor house, what do you expect - mock-luxury?

My house and garden are anything but boring.

The last house I was in was not at all boring. It was a beautiful Victorian house, unfortunately the area was less desirable so I had to move to an really good area but the house is a new build which is total rubbish.

However it is far more interesting still than the houses I have stayed in in America and Spain whilst abroad.

My friend when I was growing up had a gorgeous Tudor house with lots of nooks and hidden passageways. My house growing up was 1930's but still a lovely house.

I find modern houses a lot more boring and ugly than old houses.

Volume house builders , they design houses that are cheap to build, the fancier the house the more expensive it is. That and our local planners are all boring with no vision, we've being building houses to the same designs and methods since the Romans came for a sleep over.

What about the traditional Victorian terrace. High ceilings and period fittings....then there's the Georgian 4 storeys with those lovely fireplaces.....plenty of fun for all.

You can buy a new build fairly easily, the problem is that new builds usually have loads of problems with them.

Maybe you should think about moving to another country, or building your own.
