That your outgoing, enthusastic, a fast learner and team player.

I interview people every single day. DON'T say what one guy said to be about two weeks ago. His answer: "Well, you know. I like basketball, my boo and gettin' crunk now and gain'"

I swear to god............needless to stay, he is still standing in the unemployment line still.

Tell them first about your educational background, then career experience, before touching briefly on personal hobbies (preferably ones that show you to be a team player, charitable, energetic, reliable etc.)
The most important thing, if you're not sure what they're asking, is to ask them! If you say "could you explain that question a little further please" you'll sound thoughtful and intelligent, which is better than rambling on about something they weren't getting at!

I have interviewed more people than I can count. My question was always aimed at getting people to talk; as a warm up question. I obviously wanted to hear about them and their interests, what they had studied and why etc BUT mainly I wanted them to open up and talk to get ready for the tough questions!

They want to know about your experience and how your experience will fit into that position you applied for. The "tell me about yourself" is just a tidbit of selling yourself to your new employer if you are the perfect candidate for the position. Your slogan on why you're the best candidate of all the candidates that applied for that position.

Mostly already been covered, but keep it simple... and tell them about your past jobs, what you enjoy doing in life, and what direction you are heading in career wise, always... ALWAYS tell them that you would love to make a career with them permanantly and that you are curious about advancement opportunity, even if this is not true!

They want about three minutes of dialogue based on the personal you. About your life (briefly) your aspirations, your family, what you like to do for relaxation and recreation. How you see your future and what you hope to achieve at work. Don't go on forever that's the key and keep it light, keep cheerful and smile :-)

It's more of a chance for you to say who you are.
chronological is a good way to organize your remarks.
tell them your activities in high school and college.
they probably want to know if you're married or have kids.
which is illegal for them to ask.
tell them what's important to you in your life and what
you want out of life. be genuine.
