Why? Accept your nerdiness and be proud of it! I have accepted my dorkiness and I am now proud of it. Many geeks have done the same and we are uniting!
Just have fun and enjoy yourself and don't give a crap about labels. They mean nothing.

Right - nothing wrong with being a nerd. And if you have to dress a certain way or do your hair a certain way not to be nerd, then this is the definition of superficial. And yes, it is possible to change in this way.
If, by not being a nerd, you mean that you stop saying "geeky" things in conversation, well this is different. You should always be yourself, but sometimes saying "geeky" things turns people off and kills the conversation. In this case, try to be engaged in the conversation: what does the other person think? what is he/she interested in talking about? Ask questions and track the conversation, including the other person's emotional response. This may be a worthwhile cause, if you feel that nerdiness is getting in the way of socializing in a satisfying way.

Yes. You need to take your glasses off, wear some new clothes, and if you're a girl, you need to let your hair down as well.
In all seriousness, a nerd is someone who generally follows intellectual interests - particularly scientific - with a great degree of passion at the expense of more mainstream activities (e.g. popular TV, fashion, sports). So it is possible that a nerd's interests could change, or that they could make an effort to align their tastes more with the mainstream.
There shouldn't be any pressure felt by anyone to conform, but I'm not going to pretend that people might not achieve more happiness by existing in the mainstream...

Of course it is. It's also very possible for preps to turn into total losers. Ask any former nerd who's been out of high school for 10 years how funny it was to see the meanest popular person in school working at a convenience store for the rest of their life.
