I downloaded an attachment from my email. While I was working on it I just saved it right where it was. I already tried looking in the Temp. files and I made a search in the computer.

If you actually saved the file in your temp internet files and have your browser set to delete the temp files upon closing, like mine is then it's most likely gone forever.

Maybe you really did not save it. If, you know the folder you save too, it should be there or you should be able to find it with a File Search if you type the correct File name. What you may try is Download again and see where the Box show it will go, and, if it already there and then cancel the Download if you already have it. I make a Folder named "Downloads" this where I put everything and I can move/delete later according on what I want to do.

This probably depends on your operating system and what you're using to read your email. The file's there somewhere; try searching your entire C drive (or whatever letter your system uses for the main hard drive) for a *part* of the filename. (Searching is one of those things where less is more: using a long/exact search term doesn't usually lead to better results.) There's also the possibility that your emailer is showing you a different filename than what's it actually saved under. In that case, searching for the file extension instead of the file name might work. Good luck!

Go into search
Click on "all files and folders"
Click "When was it modified?"
Click "Specify Dates"
Enter the day you saved it
Then hit enter, everything you did during that time frame will come up and your file should be in there
Hope this helps

c:/Documents and Settings/yourUserName/Local Settings/Temp/

then sort the view by 'date modified'

that should do it
