the first post sums it up. we all have thing that may appear as an illness but i would go so far as to say that he is ill. i will say though that he has personal issues that he needs to deal with mainly being his perception of himself after Seinfeld as this great comic, which he is far from if you have seen his stand-up (he gets the crowd by doing Kramer impressions). i think money has poisoned his views and when placed in that situation he felt it better to belittle and dismember the person given his status. issues and illness can go hand in hand but it just seems to big of a statement like he's mentally ill and it's not his fault when it's more of a social issue that he has taken to which it has contaminated his views or mindset.

overall it was a big blunder and to say that we should forget it since he apologized is ignoring the countless number of people who have to battle racism every day just not as blatant as this. if you dont believe that then find the 60 minutes study that Diane Sawyer conducted with a two similar status friends one black the other white, it shows the difference in how a person is treated and talked to by their skin color.

I think he's probably got some drug or alcohol issues he needs to work out. The problem with the comedy thing they keep showing is that no one has aired what happened before his explosion. It's just one side of the story we're seeing.

As a side note, this reminds me of Elvis Costello, back in 1978. Elvis was drunk and at a bar, some musicians were getting loud and obnoxious. To end the conversation, a drunk Elvis thought it would be a good idea to say something shocking to silence the room. He made a lot of racist remarks, took cheap shots at Ray Charles, and said a lot of things that went against his personal beliefs. A reporter was in the crowd and published a lot of what he said.
Elvis Costello issued a statement where he apologized, and took responsibility for his action, without trying to justify it in any way. He said what he said and he was wrong for it.
Ray Charles would graciously accept the apology and say "Drunk talk isn't meant to be published."
In the end, it blew over, and I think this will too.

No, unfortunately, our society is still so segregated, but mostly at heart. The words never appear for fear of getting in trouble, but the feelings are still there. I honestly believe he just used a slang that is very wrong- but the other men retaliated slang back. Two wrongs don't make a right. I think people should reprimand him accordingly, but ultimately- he said sorry. And that is a word. so that is all we have to go on- words.

I think he may have some mental issues, but I don't think his comments make him mental, as racism is not a mental illness.

However, the clips I saw of him on Letterman he seemed really off, like a few cards got lost in his deck or something.

You know though, if you watch that video a few times it's actually pretty funny.

of course the rationalization Mel Gibson have been given greater of media bashing is with the help of the fact he's Mel Gibson. 2nd Mel spoke approximately Jewish human beings which the yankee Media its quite often ran by making use of Jews. What Michael Richards stated is with out doubt worse then what Mel Gibson stated yet they have been the two disgusting issues to assert. With Mel i settle for his apology yet with Michael Richards on the 2nd i cant. What he stated replaced into so vicious i cant have faith all and sundry right now and age might say this. to your recommendations ****** doesnt propose "ignorant individual" like somebody stated , it potential "Black Slave" to call somebody a ****** is to call that individual a Black Slave that's what Black human beings in united states of america have been racially called for alongside time. It does deliver alot of discomfort to Black human beings all international extensive. from Brasil to the Caribbean to united states of america and Africa slavery remains some thing that is affecting human beings emotionally. think of what got here approximately to the Jewish human beings yet 4 instances worse. Thats why Jewish and Black human beings nonetheless experience alot of discomfort once you communicate concerning the previous because of the fact they have the two been by greater discomfort then anyother race of persons blended. So extremely of protecting Michael Richards understand what he stated replaced into Racist. This coming from a Afro-Caribbean Australian who has kin who's Jewish. So i understand the two pains.

I think he was embarrassed and said the nastiest most hateful things he could say to the guys who embarrassed him. He wanted to make them feel as bad as he did, but he just went too far. I don't think that makes him psychologically ill, it just makes him human (and makes him look like an a$$). I hope he learns to think before he speaks, no matter how humiliated he feels.

To answer your question:

1. O.N. (old news)
2. I think he had a breakdown of some sort. There's no excuse for bad behavior (ie, "I was drunk" mel gibson or "I was molested" congressman foley).
3. And he needs some anger management--since his Big Excuse was "I was angry"...Yeah, I was angry this morning too when some trucker cut me off but I didnt call HIM a racial slur!!!

It was no mistake, he meant what he said. The only reason he's saying he's ill now is to make people feel sympathy for him and hopefully forgive him for what he said.
