Brazil is famous for its churrascarias- Brazilian-style, all-you-can-eat barbecued steak. Porcao and Fuego de Chao are two chains that have now spread to America. At these places you can eat different types of meat (mostly cuts of beef, though some pork, chicken and sometimes salmon), as well as typically huge salad bars too.

If you drink alcohol, be sure to try a caipirina- it's a little bit like a mojito.

To find out more about what to do and what to expect from churrascarias, check out the FoodVirgin.com website. You can ask more specific questions there.

They are famous for their Churascaria's.

It is an amazing all you can eat affair on a very grand scale. Most have an enormous sides and salds , veggie buffett.

But the beauty of these restaurants is that you have an hourglass shaped gizmo next to you. If you have it green side up. Servers will continually be offering you fresh meat right of the rotissery grill.

The meat will keep coming and co.ming. When you have had enough just flip your gizmo over to show the red side up.

The one I went to was in Rio, I think it is called Porcon

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. And that is really saying something

La Figueira (spelling?) in Sao Paulo. Beautiful indoor/outdoor dining room...in the outdoor area you sit under an enormous fig tree (hence the name). The food (buffet style) is delicious. One of my most memorable dining experiences.

Sushi Leblon in the Leblon beach section of Rio is good. Any Churrascaria is good for gluttony and there are tasty pizza joints all around.
