I can say first hand that cow tipping is a big joke, like snipe hunting.
I am a city boy from Atlanta, GA with relatives in the woods of Rainelle, WV.
They took me out "cow tipping" one night. They instructed me to run as fast I I could and lay my shoulder into the cow and it would fall over.
I did so and was stopped dead in my tracks when I hit the cow and fell over myself. The cow didn't move and simply turned its head to look at me. BTW, I am 6'6", 220 lbs, so its not like I'm smaller than average either.
Here's some simple math you can use to see that it is most likely a farce:
I just looked it up, and the average cow weighs 1150 pounds. That is half a ton!! The average fully grown man in the US is 189 pounds. So, that is 5.81 times more mass. By that logic, it would be like a 32 pound animal trying to knock over an averaged size man. The average beagle weighs 31 pounds. Do you think an average sized beagle could knock you over if you were down on all fours?
I don't think so!!

No this is not true. And anyone you hear telling you they went cow tipping is lying. You can tell when a cow sleeps because it lays down and turns its head back towards it's tail. They only sleep for 3 minutes at a time. Yes they can lock their legs like horses and rest standing in a field but you would never be able to sneek up on one and "tip it over." They are herd animals and are also prey animals. They will sense danger and warn the herd to move on. Cow tipping is something made up and cannot actually be done. So next time you hear one of those stories call their bluff.

A cow only sleeps for a few minutes, not hours. So you'd have to catch them pretty fast before they woke up, and have you ever felt a cow up-close? Those things are Damn Heavy! It would take several people to push one over, and while your pushing, the cow will wake up and trample you to death.

It is also very mean and can cause the cow to have a heart attack and die. (Can also cause you to be done for cruelty to animals or sued for causing the animals death if u r caught)

Yep, I've done it! Cow tipping baby: behind my mom's house at the river. I feel bad for it now, and would never do it again, but at the time it was hilarious...

Why would you want to know any way? I've never heard anything so pointless in my entire life. Tipping cows. What sort of surreal satisfaction would you get from doing that?
