I was wondering the same thing...What did they say to him to make him go off the way he did? You don't hear that side of the story.

It doesn't matter what the 'hecklers' did. That's showbiz. If your audience who have payed for the show don't like what they are receving they have all the right to voice their opinion, as Micheal had to voice his own. (only we know his opinion is that of a racist) What Michael Richards did was obviously he got offended, because the group of younge black and hispanic men embaressed him. You are correct he would do what many other people would do, which is react. The only difference is a racist person's reaction and a non-racists person's remarks are completely different. We aren't talking about any simple f words, and such..no he drew the line at race.
People can lose their cool, but they shouldn't say things that are racially geared.
You all are defending him and saying he reacted like anyone one else would; so that means if you were upset by a Black and/or Latino audience you too would engage in calling them *****ers and other racist terms, and making references to slavery? tsk tsk..true colours. Don't try to make reasonable arguments using ignorance, you only feed the fire. If the man did nothing wrong he would feel no need to apologize on tv. He's a racist like Mel Gibson, and they should both get celebrity memberships with the KKK...maybe you should all consider it also..
Don't get me wrong people have the right to be racist if they want..frredom of speech etc etc.. but he should atleast admit to it and say "damnit I hate Blacks." he shouldn't say something and then take it back with rambling apologies on late night tv, hding under Seinfeld's skirt.
I would never no matter the circumstance say anything negative about someone from any race, not even my own.
He's a racist like Mel Gibson, and they should both get celebrity memberships with the KKK...maybe you should all who are defending him should consider it also

Did you see the interview with the two young men on Today a couple of days ago? Their story is that he started it when their large group arrived and proceeded to their seats in the club while Richards was already on stage. It caused a distraction from his act for these people to be seated and order drinks and he let out with "Oh, here comes the mexicans and blacks" and it went from there. He lost all composure and he shouldn't have. He is a professional and he should have handled it better.
On the tape, I did hear them call him "cracker", but it was AFTER he had started in on them. Two wrongs don't make a right. I think (and this is my own personal opinion) that the folks in the audience shouldn't have said anything. It was obvious that he was hanging himself with his own rope. All they had to do was kick back and watch...he did a good job of making an a** of himself with no help what so ever.
I detest name calling. So rude.

It's a big deal because he's old enough to know better than to use the negative type of language that he did that evening. A professional comedian would be able to handle any heckler without swearing and cussing and having a huge temper tantrum (e.g., step to the side of the stage and ask the bouncer to handle 'em and continue on with your routine). It is NOT ok to go around saying whatever you feel like in this country. We are NOT in this world to hurt other people... and he hurt a huge number of people by using the language he did.

first of all they werent yellin at him racist comments they were just sayin he sucks which is what most people do when someone well...SUCKS! that gives him NO right whatsoever to say anything racial and the comment about how 50 years ago they would be hung!!! WTF kinda **** is that???? that is where he definitely crossed the line but him being a celebrity he holds more responsibility than any other normal person does becuz people actually look up to them PERIOD! and hey HE chose his job. And look how stupid and ignorant he sounded on NATIONAL TV and in front of all those people. But ur right he can have any views he wants yet that still makes him a very ignorant and irresponsible person to blurt it out like that and over and over again! WOW! He sounded crazy! Like seriously psycho! Plus he did not have to be racist with it he could of just made fun of how poor or ugly the guys are NOT of how people defiled them in their past and of their color. How immature is that??? And for u and apparently a few others to be on his side and think it was ok for him to make those rude, immature, and down right ignorant comments shows us how far America has come and EXACTLY how far we're going....

Empathizing with yet another individual is effective, yet do no longer you experience you're being a splash one-sided in this in any respect? I recommend he could desire to of gotten away with the basically the n-bomb, yet then he tried to discredit the hecklers via asserting we (black people usually) could have been swinging from trees with forks in are tushes. In different words, he became asserting what we expect of shouldn't count variety because of the fact we've been taken care of so badly interior the previous. You asked:"Why do Blacks ought to leap on the racism bandwagon everytime an infraction is made?" I ask: Why do Whites ought to hotel to racial epithets on each and every occasion they get into disputes with Blacks? Richards could desire to of arise with something extra desirable. i've got considered him do different stuff so i comprehend he's able to a much extra sensible reaction than what he did arise with. Oh and that i do have faith the character of the infraction of Richards area became certainly racist to start with, so what have been blacks meant to whinge approximately after that vulgar exhibit? His loss of comedic skills? I say if whites choose to flow and notice him do stand-up, it incredibly is basically effective. he won't in any respect get a dollar out of me.

a few points you don't seem aware of...
the "black" people heckling michael richards never refered to him as a "kite", a "honky", a "redneck", or any other derogatory slang word for his ethnic background.
"a lot" of people don't take it to the extreme. just as the people who heckled michael richards could've got up and left as soon as he began his tirade, rather than sit thru it and now claim injury for monetary gain, mr. richards could have just walked off the stage since they obviously thought he wasn't funny.
i do agree with you somewhat on the apology. i don't think he should have apologized either, unless he was sincere. i don't believe he was. i think he got caught being an ***, and needed to cover it up.

Kind of like what you did to me.
How about if I say I am sorry - you say your sorry.
Hitler? I think that was a little extreme and a poor example. I don't remember Hitler having anything to do with Marketing.
I was really angry at the company behind PS3 not you. Sorry if it came across that way.

Hecklers are a part of the stand-up comedians gig. He was not being threatened; he just did not want to hear people tell him he sucked hind titty. No professional would have taken it to that extreme if they wanted to keep on making money.
As to what did they say, on the recording all you hear them say is, "You really suck!"

the people you are speaking of (hecklers) they paid to watch a good show, so they have every right to complain if it didn't meet their expectations....being in entertainment business he would've handled it better. he's apology didn't seem sincere....he should keep apologizing.
"i don't think he should have apologized for anything.
except only if his life was being threatened ", he's livelihood is probably threatened.
