extreme addiction is when ur whole life revolves around the addictive substance.
For eg, if u r an alcoholic, u know that there is nothing nicer in life than drinking & u long for it constantly.
fighting off addiction is one of the hardest things in life.

prevention is better than cure. so try not to get deep into anything.

also, often some addictions are inter-linked.
for ex an alcoholic has a greater tendency to take drugs/gamble/ masturbate excessively, etc. than a non-alcoholic.

well, i m not a doctor, but i would say anything that you can't do with out for an extended amount of time, anything that costs you more money than you have to spend and anything that could cause you or someone else harm. if you know it's going to hurt (not counting things like diabetics giving themselves insulin shots and so on) and you can't stop yourself from doing it that's bad. if your spending more $ than you have whether it's gambling or collectables or on your computer, thta's bad. ie my brother has put more than $5000.00 into his computer,(not counting what he bought it for in the first place) he doesn't use it for anything other than games, buying and chatting, a new computer with all the upgrades would not cost as much as he has put into this. and of course if it's alchohol or drugs, anytime you can't stop it's bad. also if you are able to stop but find you can't stop thinking about what you've given up, that's a bad sign. hope this helps.

if you HAVE to have it like you would food or water it's an addiction. Even if you only have to have one drink a day you are an alcoholic as long as you have to have it every day.
