we had a house fire a little over a month ago. We didnt have renters insurance and thus; lost everything.

We need help with christmas. Not even toys so much as new sheets and bedding for the kids, and some stuff to make their room more homey. Clothes, shoes, toys ...

I dont have the first idea on who to call for help. Do any of you know of any places in south jersey?

Thanks,

Col

Angel Tree, the local Police Department, Social Services, the local shelters (Philly has a bunch). Social Security, believe it or not, MIGHT be able to help in the times of crises. Salvation Army and the local Churches.......God Bless you.

Try your local church, call a few of them~if you cant get help from one. I know in Massachusetts, our local church helps alot of people in need out. Also as another answered -The Salvation Army, any food pantries, contact welfare, or The department of transitional assitance. Im sure welfar, The Salvation Army or one of the food pantries can give you names of other organizations. Especially with children there should be plenty of charities that will lend a helping hand. My close friends home burned down. She lost basically everything, but she called everyone she could for help. Remember if you dont ask, you dont recieve... "the squeeky wheel gets the grease." I know its hard to ask, but you need it- I wish I could help you more. Anyways, my friend got about 4 gift cards for different stores about 3 or 4 hundred each, to replace clothing for her & her children, sheets, towels etc. She was also put up in a near by hotel. When she found a new apartment, they helped her with the security deposit etc, new furniture, she got alot to replace what she lost, just not the sentimental things. Im sorry to hear about the house fire... Im glad you all made it out safe.

First let me say I'm so sorry you've gone through this.........I hope you can get on your feet soon.
Usually there is a County Christmas Bureau...well in most counties......or call the red cross office. You could also contact the local family services offices to see if you can add your name to a christmas list for adoption programs. Families will adopt another for Christmas. They will ask what you need the most. And the schools usually offer help too, either in donations or they will take your names and forward them on to companies that help. Please check with these places soon as the lists can fill up fast.
Good Luck

Merry Christmas !!!

Try contacting the American Red Cross or the Salvation army. Also I would contact local newspapers and tv stations, that is a human interest story they may be interested in or at the very least they may also be able to refer to some additional agencies that may be able to assist you. Good Luck. I will pray for you.

do you have a Salvation Army there? The ones here are good to help or maybe the Red Cross. Also, is there a local biker,(motorcycle) group in your area? We belong to two and we help out people all the time.

Sorry to hear about your situation and I hope you find some help.
