YES, I know it is a cartoon... Anyway, authors use to keep a minimum of coherence in many cartoons. Maud Flanders (Simpsons) died, and she's still dead... I also NOTICED (thanks !) that Simpsons are ageless, and they do not grew and do not move to another class... That is precisely what I was surprised to see other characters grewing WITH THE SEASONS. Apu octuplets seems to be the only ones who do not feel the Simpson timeline (maybe baby Ling, as one of you pointed out).
So, you also can interpret my question in that way : don't you think those kind of inconsistancies point out that the series is going to go nowhere ?
(Bonus question for people who think it's just a "geek" question : will octuplets grew farther than Lisa and Bart, becaming adults one day in the show ? Or will they stop growing soon ?
;-D

Because the Apu's kids are rarely part of the main story line, so it can change, the Simpson kids and Flander's kids are important that they all stay together

It helps the writers creative plotlines to have characters in different stages of life, so thus most Simpsons characters don't age. Otherwise, Bart would be like 26 or so now.
But since the writers needed Apu's kids to be older for more recent plot lines to work, they made them older.

LOL, writers determination. even although they have had a minimum of four distinct birthday episodes, 3 end of faculty 12 months, over a dozen halloween and various of christmas episodes, they by no ability seem to age. purely contained in the destiny episodes (Lisa's fortune), Professer Frinks destiny scope, and so on do they become old. a minimum of the Flintstones had pebbles and bam-bam age, even growing to be a teenage by-product later.

Cartoon logic, and as Homer once pointed out "Cartoons don;t have to make sense."

because the Simpson's family is ageless. Thats the thing about cartoons. You can age who you want, or keep people exactly the same age for what? 17 seasons now?.......Im glad they haven't aged anyone, i love the simpsons

Because The Simpsons is a fictitious comedy series, and one of the comedic devices that they use is that the Simpsons kids never age. On the other hand, they allow other characters to age and grow so that they can explore issues related thereto.
Are you one of those geeks who goes to Star Trek conventions and points out unbelievably minute errors in obscure episodes of sci-fi shows and demand explinations from the actors?
