It stings much like you scaled yourself with very hot water. It really is a dumb idea to allow yourself to get a sunburn. Very light skinned people really should avoid the sun altogether. Since my family came from the Artic Circle, we are especially vulnerable.

Depends on your skin type.. Some folks will tan, then there are some folks like me who are seriously white. Getting sunburnt is no fun. Try holding your hand over a flame for about a minute. You will blister and peel and on much more senstive parts than your hand... Sometimes you'll blister 2 or 3 times on the same area.. As I said SERIOUS white girl...I tried a tanning bed once and worked my way UP TO 7 minutes and it doesnt' change a thing

If you are serious, let me share.
Yes, it can hurt. Picture putting your hand a few inches above a burner on the stove and let your hand sit there until it gets hot. That's how it feels with a sunburn.
And yes, I think you are lucky to have more melanin in your skin!

I don't burn. Why? It's this beautiful invention called sunscreen.
Does it suck to be profiled by the authorities? just a question based on facts.

It hurts like a mother. Plus you have to be putting sunscreen on all the time - it's a pain the butt - you are lucky indeed.

Sunburns do hurt. My sister always gets them on her nose and shoulders w/ peeling and contrary to popular beliefs, she is "dark" skinned.
I also burn but don't peel, I am the lightest and our other sister not at all.
I find my light or "yellow" cousins do not burn but the darker ones do, though my sister is the only one to peel.

That's odd...while it took a hell of a lot longer, my black co worker got sunburned and it HURT.
Anyway, if you haven't had the pleasure, it feels like your skin is too small, very sensitive, and has its own heat...
