It depends on your education. I was a OTR truck driver. But being gone is very hard. If you have a good wife or husband that can cope to you being gone or maybe you can go to work on a platform drilling for oil. Good Luck

The US Department of Labor linked below is a good place to start. Folks with education usually make more than those whom lack the training. There are high paying blue collar jobs. These may have increased risks such as mining, forest fire fighter and underwater wielder.
