I really don't get it. Everywhere, whether it is online, coffee shop, friends, etc... they always label americans "stupid", "violent", "have no clue", "Ignorant" etc.
Some argue that because they're arrogant? I ask have you been to Toronto? It's the crown of arrogance!
Also, if they're that stupid and ignorant, don't you think that it is very impressive that a bunch of 'idiots' formed the greatest superpower of all times?

I've never felt Canadians by and large had this attitude. But it is a fairly liberal country. That doesn't mean liberalism is bad, but some liberals, and I prefer to be called liberal, are very arrogant and think others are barbarians in comparison to them. That is my honest observation.

You think this is going to last--our superpower status with George W in power? With the widening gap between the poor and the rich with the middle class slowing dissolving it's only a matter of time before we have to take care of ourselves for a change and not everyone else in the world.
Do you have any idea how many people go to bed hungry? You see Canada is outside of our country and can look at it and see ALL of it, where we are dependent on the news for information.
You say Toronto is the 'crown of arrogance', what about us--what about the people in the white house--what about George W when he's speaking, i.e. when he answered when asked about the fighting in Iraq '...bring it on...'. Who's arrogant?

Um... on the average American, I'm cool with them, but when I hear stupid stories like how Americans think that Canadaians live in igloos.. that really makes me think. My grade 3 teacher said that when she was coming from the States back to Toronto one summer, There was this American lady she was talking to and she was all like, "Yeah.. I'm going to Toronto! Man, I heard its REALLY cold up there! That's why I packed all these sweaters here." And she had a bunch of sweaters XD. But that's just one American. I don't generalize and say that they're all like that because it's not true. So, yeah... basically. I don't have a problem with Americans. At times, I think I do, with Soceity and it's corruption, but that's all. -Shaii

I would have to say that I can relate to the way Canada may feel. We as Americans seem to have this obsession with being bigger, better and stronger than the rest of this world. America thrives on consumption, and with all this probably does come arrogance. I can see how other countries, including our neighbors to the north may feel such disdain for the U.S.

almost all the online friends i have are canadians.
"greatest superpower of all times" is an ignorant statement. We have only been the sole dominator of the world for about 10 years, and that is already slipping away.

I didn't know Canadians felt this way about us. I'm thinking I'm going to cry after I kick their ***.
I guess that can't be all that great when its own citizens (beloved creators of South Park) pick on them.

Well, as far as the violence thing, we do have an extremely violent country with way too much crime, and Canada has somehow managed to not have as much.

If that truly is the case, they probably get it from watching American TV, especially the news.
