A dictionary definition of anarchy is the abstance of any higher ruler or political authority.

My personal belief is that anarchy is just an extreme form of democracy (and I hope no one gets mad.) In an anarchy, as advocatd by anarchists, everyone has equal power, which is the premise behind democracy. The only difference between the two is a ruling government. In democracies, there's still a state that provides for at least some basic needs, mainly security. With anarchies, it's really every man for themselves.
