I don't go out much but last year I went out dancing to a bar/dance club and was thrown out. I did not have my ID to prove how old I was. Didn't think at 41 years old I needed one. so when the bouncer gave me trouble I showed white hairs to convince him I was old enough. He said he didn't know me & what age I realy was and white hair means nothing to him since he started getting white hairs himself at 13 years old. He absolutly refused to let me in. people I knew even told him I was in my 40's. but no go. the same thing happened another time with my husband buying me a drink. the bar tender would not let him buy one for me because she believed I was under age. the bar tenders friend that was sitting at the bar went to school with me and vouched for me.
I have even been accused of having a fake ID.
I want to go out for new years eve but don't want to encounter the same thing.
should I be flattered or insulted?
how should I handle it the next time if I am accused of a fake ID?

Don't leave home without ID. Fact of life most places card.

Some people can be jerks so take ID & feel flattered . It only takes one person served underage to ruin everyone's evening and get a place fined or closed down. So take their asking as a means to their job security. Been carded for years and with children in their twoenties it is a great feeling. I enjoy it as who know how much longer it will last. They age me daily.
If you accused of having a fake ID - go somewhere else, why ruin your evening angring with an idoit. IF they calls the cops , so what - a cop knows a real ID from a fake. Then the bartender can look foolish not you. Make sure you have ID and stay calm. Calmer heads always provail, cops don't like yelling, screaming ,swearing or idiots.

Your husband must really get a kick out of that! You're forty and you got carded, THEN accused of having a fake ID? You must be hot stuff! Seriously, though, maybe you should carry two pieces of ID -- i.e. a driver's license and an employee identification card, student ID, passport, etc.

I would be flattered and annoyed at the same time. You're just trying to get your drink on and the jerks won't let ya. lol. I really don't know what you could do about this-dress a little sexier, flash a big smile at the bartender?

Obtain a state issued ID, and be prepared with it in hand. And I would be flattered and annoyed at the same time. God bless****
