I try to jog at least twice a week. Lately I have discovered that I am hurting my feet alot from running. I have gotten shin splints before, but these seem to happen less frequently now. What I have been experiencing lately hurts alot worse. It feels like I tore something inside the bottom of my right foot. I'm not sure if it a stress fracture, torn ligament, torn muscle. I first felt this pain when I ran 7 miles over a week ago. I gave it about seven or eight days rest and my foot felt fine for the past few days. However, when I tried to run again today, I started to feel the same dull pain in the underside of my foot when my foot would roll. By the time I got halfway through my 3rd mile, I was in agony and had to walk/limp back to my car. Obviously, I did not give it enough time to heal. How long should I wait before running again? Is it mandatory that I see a doctor to determine this? I have new shoes, so I don't think that's a problem. Also, should I stop running on asphalt?

Dude, there is only one way to know when its okay to run again, and that's to listen to your body. You might want to visit the doctor over it, but in my experience they can hardly ever help with this sort of thing. Take a week or so completely off, and ice and/or heat the injury sight whenever possible. Then start out walking for a mile or two, when you can do this with no pain gradually work your way up from very short runs. Good luck.

give it a few days and start back (slowly with low miles) ur problem is not the shoes but the support they provide. do u have high arches? just a guess but u want to try an insole that provides u more support. sounds like that or u have strained it (kinda like pulled muscle) this means u need more stretch time and since this is an area prone to injury ... pay special attention stretching this area

wait two weeks, this is generally enough time for most injuries, that type of injury occurs when you curl you feet, you can try if you want to prove it. just stay off it for a while, ice it and after two weeks run slow and for not as far as you used to and if it starts to hurt, stop and give it some more time, no point if you continue to hurt it.

Get some comfortable shoes and try walking first. If that is too much pressure go to your local rec center and walk in shallow water. Massage therapy may be an option you may like.

Your doctor would be the best one to ask that.
