I've never heard of castor oil to make a labor progress. Try nipple stimulation. This is said to bring on labor faster.

Castor oil is a laxative and will empty your bowels, some people feel it will bring on labor because it can cause cramping in your intestines. It is not proven to start labor.

But it can't hurt you, so if you want stomach cramps and diarrhea while you are 8-9 months pregnant, go for it.

Also, a baby's lungs aren't usually ready until the baby is 37 weeks. Did your midwife do a test to determine if the baby's lungs were ready?

Caster oil will make you sicker rather than anything else. If your baby is ready it'll come. But if you want to help labor along, here are a few things that have worked in my own personal experience. Go on an up-paced walk around the block (make sure you stay close to home so you can get there quick if your water breaks)!!! Spicy foods are good. But the best thing to do is have sex. Lots of it, and I know it's hard, but if you can, just enjoy it. Having an orgasm would help you too. (If nothing else, it'll help pass the time faster!!!)

I had a tablespoon of castor oil and 2 hours later I was in labor. It may be an old wives tale but it worked for me. She slid easily out about 5 hours later. I was 2 days past due, I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you are full term, just in case it is more than a 'tale'.

No, you shouldn't do that. I did it twice. I know....it actually took my 2 times to figure it out! The first time, it just made me sick. The second time, I did go into labor about 12 hours later, but I was also 2 days late, so I probably would have gone into labor anyway. It made me so sick even if it did cause the labor...it wasn't worth it. Let nature do its work. Walking can really help. Congrats and good luck!

Me and some of my Mom friends all had those awful headaches when we where pregnant with our girls. :) They are such a pain and where near impossible to get rid of. Tylenol is the safe thing to take. They should eventually go away! I'm sorry your having them. I remember with my daugther I was in sooo much pain from the headaches that I was in tears! If they get to a point where you can't function, make sure you pay a visit to your Doc. Dont be taking any pain meds but the Tylenol.

YES CASTOR OIL CAN MAKE YOUR LABOR COME BUT YOU ARE ONLY 35 WEEKS WHY DO YOU WANT THE BABY TO COME EARLY?? MY BABY WAS BORN AT 36 WEEKS AND SHE HAD TO SPENDTHE FIRST WEEK OF HER LIFE IN THE NICU WITH BREATHING PROBLEMS. LET THE BABY STAY IN FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 3 WEEKS.

I had midwives with 4 of my 5 children. If your midwife is giving you the go ahead then they are not worried about any complications. I used castor oil with two of my births to speed things up and it worked for me! Two home births, two birth center births, and one hospital birth.

Excuse me! r y living in the "turn of the century"!? When castor oil was used for everything!! We're smarter than that.
Don't take that stuff! It's a laxative!!

please don't take caster oil it can make your stomach bleed and really hurt your baby!!! only your baby knows if she is ready to be born and when she is she will come. taking caster oil could speed up your pregnancy up way too fast and cause you some bad and maybe deadly side effects. PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
