I just got an angora sweater as a gift and am feeling really hesitant to wear it knowing that it is made from rabbit hair. I would make me feel a little better to keep it if I knew that the rabbits were at least not killed to make the sweater.

Opps, sorry, I didn't mean to say "wool". It says it's angora on the tag and then below it says 100% rabbit hair.

Angora rabbits are clipped to get their wool. I have been to many, many rabbit shows where the breeders of the Angoras have demonstrated the clipping and also the way that they turn those fibers of hair into yarn. The rabbit is not hurt in any way, shape or form.

More than likely, Angora goats were sheared to make the wool.

No, they don't kill them, they shave them. Their hair grows their entire lives so to kill them would actually be losing out on a lot of money when it's easier to shave them and weave the fiber to make yarn with which to make the sweater you are wearing.

They aren't killed however they are fed a high fat diet to make their hair shiny and likely aren't kept in the best caging conditions.

I don't think rabbits make wool. That would be sheep.
