Your filter should be on 24/7, yup. Your light can on anywhere from 8 to 12 hours a day. If you have live plants, it should be around 10 hours a day (more, and algae will grow; less, and the plants will suffer.) Probably, though, you can just turn it on in the morning and the light off at night.
A cheap 5$ timer will make your life easier, though, just set it how you want and you don't have to worry about it. Your fish will benefit from a regular schedule, too.

Your filter has to be on 24/7 becuase it is the oxygen source for your tank. I recommend leaving the light on during the daytime and turning off at night just so your fish can get a sense of night and day. But the filter has got to be on all the time.

I have a 125 gallon fish tank and my fish lights come on at 7:00 in the morning when i wake up and go off at 7:00 at night. And yes you filter should be on 24/7.

leave your light on for 8-12 hours or what ever your schedule is. I turn mine on in the am when I get up for work then I turn it off at night before I go to bed. Or you can get a timer for your lights that automatically turn it on and off at a set time.
Yes you need to leave your filter on all the time and change the cartridge once a month.

Filter needs to run constantly. Lights in a tank with fake plants should be on 8-10 hours a day(anymore and you'll run into problems with alge) and in tanks with live plants, lights should be on more like 14 hours.

the lights should be on for about 10-12 hours a day and the filter should be on at all times, it should be cleaned on every water change by rinsing it in a bucket or some container that has the old tank water not tap water that way you get rid of some of the old gunk but keep most of your good bacteria

your filter shoul always be on! You should probably get a timer from your local pet store, so the light goes off and on at the same time everyday. For salt water I do 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off, but freshwater I only leave my light on for 8 hours, because algea will grow more, and saltwater need the light more especially if you have anenomes, or coral

the filter should run continously unless you stop it for maintenance and the light should be on no more than 9 hours per day. gennerally you want your tank to mimic reality so turning the light on in the morning and off 8-9 hours later
