Yes. I just had my second c section 4 weeks ago after my first was an emergency too and it was way better. First you know what to expect. You are more aware of what is going on so, at least in my case, you can hold your baby a lot sooner and don't need as much pain meds after. After being in labor and then having to have a c section completely wore me out, but having it planned makes recovery more pleasant. You still hurt a lot and can't do very much the first day but you are aware and awake as long as the surgery went well. The only drawback is that if you have a toddler or even preschooler to take care of too they might not understand why you can't pick them up or chase after them so I would get someone to help if you can. Good luck!

I had an emergency c section last Tuesday due to her turning into the breech position the day that I went into labor. I have always heard that is much easier the second time around. If and when I have another baby I would definetly prefer it to be a c section.

I had to have an emergency c-section with my first after 27 hours of horrible labor and the baby's heart rate dropping drastically. It was scary and tramatic and very hard on me.

My recovery was easy. I even left the hospital early.

My second c-section was scheduled. I had a very hard time recovering from the second one. I was so much more sore and had a lot more pain. I had to have excessive scar tissue removed during surgery so that may have been why it was so much harder to recover.

I think knowing what to expect makes it all easier.

my first section was emergency after 12 and a half hours of established labour.
my second one ( only 17 months after the first!) was planned & was much better even though everyone had told me it would be worse.
I was terrified the morning I was having it, thinking of all the things that could go wrong etc but I needn't have.
I was taken to theatre at about 9.30 and by 10.05 I had my daughter.
I wasn't in as much pain afterwards and practically bounced out of bed the next day much to the surprise of the nurses! I was able to walk upright and sleep on my back which I had been unable to do after the first when I couldn't stand up straight and had to sleep sitting up!
Hardest part for me was when I got home to my 17 month old son and wasn't able to lift him or let him climb all over me & him being too young to understand why.
Good luck & don't worry!! xx

As per my daughter it is much easier She got a son in Dec 2002 by c-section after 9 hours of labor pains. She got another son again by c-section on 30th June 2006. Both were born in Boston.

My first was an emergency csection with general anesthesia. That was a hard recovery because they discovered I have a bad reaction to general anesthesia.
My second one was an epidural and it was SOOOO much easier! Was also a planned one.

Usually they use the scar to cut into and its not bad but it does take about 6 weeks to heal and you should not strain youself
