Yes but your machine needs to be reasonably new and you need the region unlock code for your machine. I have a Phillips dvd player I got from walmart, was about $40 which I unlocked to play the dvd's I brought with me from UK. Get the model number of your player and search it with 'region unlock code' on google. Don't pay for it though, there are free sites, you just have to dig around for them.

Only if your DVD player plays DVD's for all regions, or the DVD is encoded for "ALL". For the player, check your owners manual. For the DVD, it should be on the cover box, usually somewhere on the bottom of the back. DVD's from the US are "Region 1", and will have a little globe with a "1" on top of it. DVD's that play in all regions will, obviously, have "ALL" over the little globe. I'm not sure if there's any way to get around the encoding features.

No, you need a pal/ntsc convertable DVD. They are available from Amazon, among other places. It has to do with the number of lines encoded on the screen of your TV. Pal is the UK format and NTSC is the US format.
Please understand that Region and format are different. Region coding is for copyright purposes. Format has to do with the number of lines on a TV screen. An all region NTSC format DVD player will NOT play a UK DVD. You would need a Pal/NTSC player instead.

I doubt it. My boyfriend is living in the UK right now and he said the DVD players are different. I don't remember the specifics, but I guess you can't play the US's movies on the UK's players.

You do comprehend that area 2 dvds won't play on American dvd gamers - suited? I ran for the era of a internet site that sells gamers which will play the two, yet i've got faith it became form of severe cost.
