marriage is a religious and social status. i've been with my partner for 5 years and we are not married. our relationship is great. he is always there for me, as i am for him.
i'm not saying marriage is not a beautiful thing. or that i don't believe in it. i'm just saying that some people don't have to have approval from society and the church. i'm not knocking it, i'm not saying we aren't going to get married. i am saying that we're happy with our situation right now.

Well, I see it as if you are together its just being together. It is almost just a friend feeling. When you get married if it was 2 years or 10 before you get married it feels more secure and trusting between each other. Married or not there will always be "strings" attached. No more or no less. If your feelings about marriage are traditional then follow that, but if you think that you are going to feel the same way married or not then you have a relative easy choice either way. Sometimes people will marry for tax purposes or medical insurance and of course the feelings. I guess it is all in preference and the person.

Being married means that you are doing what God meant to be done with a man and woman. The different between marriage and a relationship is there is no real commitment in a relationship and can be taking lightly. But marriage is a real commitment. Like rent a house and owning a house. Renting being just a relationship and own being marriage. Both you have to pay something and you have to keep up most of the up keep when renting but you are taking care of someone else stuff. You have nothing to leave to your children or home equity and the landlord can come and do what he wants when he wants to even sell the house then where does that leave you. But when you own a house yes it more reasonability, but you can leave it to you children like a legacy and you have money build into it you can not just walk away from it or just be put out. No one can move in or put you out. So with that said it better to be married then to play or live like you are married.

The sad truth is in today's disposable society the only difference is paper work. In marriage you need paper work to get married and you need paper work to end a marriage.

Some how with this paper work someone always owes the other person alimony. I don't get that part. I don't need to pay an ex-girl friend money.
