Am I doing your home work, this is all in the history archives and you will get a more accurate account then I can give you. However here goes from memory, Richard Nixon wanted to save his conversations for his legacy and it turned to bite him on the butt. On these tapes were evidence that he was involved in the cover up of the Watergate break in. The gap that I referred to earlier may have been purposely done to eliminate some of this evidence. The vice president Spiro Agnew resigned because of another issue. Nixon chose Gerald Ford to replace him. But several of the Nixon confidants went to prison for their part in the cover up. Nixon himself was pardoned by Gerald Ford before there could be a trial and that cost Gerald Ford a term as an elected president. There is some speculation that Ford and Nixon had made a deal before Nixon picked him, but that is just speculation. No proof has ever been given. If you want anything else that I can provide from memory just e-mail me.
