I was on the computer and my 2 year old came up and slapped my knee. I firmly told him I would defend myself if he struck me again. He laughed in mockery and slapped my knee again. I tackled him to the ground and elbowed him in the face. I felt threatened so I had to defend myself against this monster! Why wont he be a man and stop crying?

I think because of your over reaction!!
This sounds like a thump on the butt and a good 5 min timeout would have sufficed.
You reaction will not instill discipline. Only fear. Then hatred at that fear you cause when he is a teenager.
