Well, it depends, I agree with you, but you'd be surprised how insulting some people can be, I asked a question about why cops have to block traffic when giving a citation and this crazy woman just insulted me like there is no tomorrow, she comes from a family of cops, she can't even spell, nor use punctuation properly, but you can see how hateful she is, she said I have to be the most ignorant person and had the stupidest questions and went on and on, you can immediately see she has a miserable life and she is brand new to Y/A, I only asked a simple question. She also said I have to be the most self centered person, blah blah, it's unbelievable, she actually didn't read the question, but misinterpreted, check it out, all I can do is laugh.
Yeah you lose 10 points plus another 2 if they think your answer was offensive.

I do agree, people want answers to questions, but they should realize that people are going to have different opinions, and that they wont like some answers that they get, this however is no reason to be a baby and report someone.
I answered a question earlier that someone had asked before hand and had been reported for, it was a personal question but if you don't like something someone has asked then don't read it!!!
Its that same old thing when people complain about a TV program, no one forces them to watch it, they do have an off switch to use and the same applies here I think.
If it is defiantly abuse and not banter or an opinion then yes it should get reported, but if yahoo has a serial reporter then they shouldn't allow them to ruin it for everyone.

I don't think "report abuse" is used too much -- people can use it all they want to.
However, I *do* think that the Yahoo folks don't actually LOOK at the abuse reports and decide if they really are abuse -- they just process them.
If they get an abuse report, they delete the question or answer without really looking at it.
If they're going to have the ability for people to report on each other here, then they need to actually MONITOR it, and only act on abuse reports if they really are abuse of the rules.
They don't, right now it's just automatic.

yeah, but we're the bad guys, the whinny, insecure, tattle tales,
always get their way now. remember when you were in kindergarten and you would get yelled at for telling all the time?
not anymore, society in general caters to the weak. what a terrible precedent we've set.

Its Yahoo who makes the decision whether to remove an answer. They're to blame.
