I just read that a cold can be a sign of pregnancy? Is that true? Has anybody ever had a cold when they first got pregnant?

I thought it sounded kind of made up.. but thought I'd ask.

I heard this too but didn't experience it with either of my pregnancies. I guess it's something to do with your immune system gets weaker during pregnancy, especially the start of pregnancy because your body is trying to NOT fight the baby off. Just because you have a cold though doesn't mean your pregnant!!

I had a cold/sinus infection for the first three weeks after I found out I was pregnant! It doesn't happen to everyone... but the dr said it can just come where your immune system is working on overload for the baby.
Take vitman C and stay away from most cold medicines!! (I just suffered thru with only vicks vapor rub)

But also I wouldn't use this as a "sign" or pregnancy... Just something that could happen. Take a test!!
Good luck! :)

I'm not sure that it's a SIGN that you're pregnant, but sometimes in early pregnancy you can have cold symptoms. I had it with both of my pregnancies- at the beginning and at the end.

some people attribute the feelings of sickness they get when pregnant with a cold. My supervisor was convinced she had the flu for over a month, when she went in to see why it wasn;t going away she found out she was three months pregnant.

if you are not trying to get pregnant the symptoms can be confused.

You can get nasal congestion in pregnancy because of increased blood flow.

When you get pregnant, your immune system slows down, which makes you more succeptible to colds.

But no, it can't cause colds.
