If you have an electric solenoid actuating the 4WD actuated by a switch, the most likely cause is a worn out switch that is allowing the circuit to complete and engage the 4WD. Try replacing the switch. It cannot be nearly as expensive as transfer case work which you will eventually need if you do not repair it.

It's probably a glitch in the computer. Your best bet is to bring it to a mechanic and have him/her look at it. You may even need to go to a dealership, but they charge an arm and a leg just to look at the vehicle, so start at a mechanic for an evaluation. Also, it could be a problem in the 4WD box itself. In any case go to t a mechanic.

First question is there still driveline warranty on the blazer? if not it sounds like a short in the switch on the dash. do a continuity test on the switch and the wiring from the dash to the trans. and check the switch where the wire plugs in to the trans. look for chaffing or pinching in the wires. also check the grounds. take them off and clean them. put grease on them . I hope this helps. Goodluck

If you have the manual 4WD shifter, the linkage is probably out of whack.
