It depends on how bad the radiator is leaking, and how far you have to drive. As long as you can keep water and anti-freeze in it to keep it from running hot you can drive it. But remember to check the coolant every time you get ready to use the car. The problem is only going to get worse, so I would try to get it fixed as soon as possible.

Sorry to assert this, yet no. i'm a mechanic and that i recognize how plenty some automobiles propose to a pair human beings. whilst i offered my truck off of a kin buddy he replaced into rather much crying because of the fact he enjoyed the truck plenty. With the age of your automobile, and the reality that the physique is cracked, thats going to be a pricy restore, the radiator and wires arn't too undesirable. whilst doing the wires you ought to additionally examine for the music up (if it hasn't been achieved/ achieved in a wile i might propose doing plugs, wires, cap and rotor, gas injection provider (if the motor vehicle if FI'ed) or a carb provider (if it runs off of a carb setup), and gas clear out. For the radiator, i might propose doing the thermostat on the comparable time and doing a flush and replace the rad cap, after which tension try the device afterwords to ascertain for leaks. To do the interest corectly isn't likely to be affordable, expically with the physique. some shops won't even touch it, and look at to take it to an autobody save to have the physique repaired. i'm guessing for each thing you would be looking interior the $1500CDN selection, thats basically a wager, each section has they're own pricing.

I would have that radiator fixed as soon as possible. As Smoke said, you can drive it in an emergency by keeping coolant in it, but it will leave you stranded eventually with possibly a destroyed engine. As the commercial once said..."you can pay me now, or pay me later." I have a 1984 Camaro. These cars are the poor man's hot rod of the future and should only go up in value. Hang on to it!

don't drive it!!! a blown radiator is one thing, but an overheated engine is a much bigger problem. but the smoke dude is right, you can keep refilling it, but it's just gonna get worse. for a nice car like that, i wouldn't risk ruining the engine.

Even if you keep it full of water, the system won't be able to pressurize, and you can still smoke the engine.
